Transmission and T&D assets are currently undergoing profound regulatory changes. Beacon Energy has played a leadership role in fostering a competitive market for transmission projects and T&D asset holders. We have been active at FERC and before Congress on adequate incentives for new transmission projects. In addition, we have been also active in wholesale market areas,

Project Implementation                 

Beacon Energy provides project implementation assistance to asset developers in the electric power generation industry. Beacon Energy has worked on power projects aggregating in excess of 11,000 MW, and has designed and implemented marketing strategies for three large power marketing operations. Our company works closely with clients to identify opportunities, overcome obstacles, and finalize transactions in the most efficient and profitable manner.

Areas of expertise include gas contracting, power contracting, transmission negotiations, wholesale market analysis, retail market analysis, assistance with financing strategies and structures, market simulation, electricity price forecasting, and fuel price forecasting. Beacon Energy has worked on power projects in most areas of North America, including PJM, NEPOOL, ECAR, MAIN, MAPP, SPP, WSCC, SERC, FPP, Canada and Mexico. Recent project assignments have included the following: coal-fired generation development and contracting; wind resource development; power and gas contracting; transmission negotiations; development of an Energy Management Plan for a 250 MW gas-fired NEPOOL facility; analyses of transmission assets and opportunities; gas transportation analysis and negotiation; retail and wholesale power market analysis; power sales negotiations with 48 industrials for a 250 MW gas-fired facility in Mexico; gas supply negotiations; pipeline routing evaluations; forward curve projections; merchant market and transmission system due diligence for projects in California; and power sales, fuel supply and transmission constraint assessments for 100 MW and 500 MW merchant units in ECAR.

Transactional Support for Mergers & Acquisitions

Beacon Energy provides a wide array of transactional support for mergers & acquisitions activities: due diligence, assistance in project financing, and advice in strategic planning and market positioning. Most recently, we have assisted clients in finding buyers for selected assts, helped to package assets together with power purchase agreements, and have worked to negotiate the sale of assets under difficult market conditions.
